A.K.A. Discoverer's Day
It was October 12, 1492 when Christopher Columbus' arrival in the Americas. Columbus lead a Spanish enterprise across Atlantic Ocean looking for other trading routes to the Far East. Due to this unexpected discovery, it lead to a colonizing of new plants, animals, culture, human populations and technology that was not found in America at that time. Although this national holiday was to celebrate the founding of America, many other international countries celebrate this day as well such as the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Spain, Peru and many others.
