Trade unionists in the 19th century proposed a day be set aside to celebrate labor. Promoted by the Central Labor Union and the Knights of Labor New York City held the first parade in honor of Labor Day. By 1894 we acknowledged Labor day as a federal holiday.
In honor of our ancestors, we will close our offices Monday, September 5, 2022, and reopen on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
