Although mothers have been around for thousands of years, it was not celebrated until early 20th century. The first Mothers Day service of worship and celebration was held by Anna Jarvis.
Anna Jarvis never intended the day to be commercialized and was more of a spiritual celebration to honor the mothers of the church, here we are today. From fine dining lunches, and dinners, to flowers and chocolates. However you celebrate mothers day with the mothers in your life, it's the best way to celebrate it.
